Cherki Handed Double PFA Awards Nominations

Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki has been handed a double nomination at the 2025-26 PFA Awards.

Cherki has been nominated in both the Men’s Player of the Year and Young Men’s Player of the Year categories following a successful debut season, in which he scored 11 goals and contributed 17 assists in all competitions as City won Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles.

He however faces competition from teammate, Erling Haaland for the Men’s Player of the Year award after the Norwegian produced 38 goals and nine assists in 50 appearances.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is nominated after a successful campaign saw him produce nine goals and 22 assists in all competitions, during which he set a new record for most assists in a single Premier League campaign of 21.

Arsenal’s David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice round off the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Year category.

Across in the Young Men’s Player of the Year category, Cherki faces tough competition from teammate, Nico O’Reilly after the latter delivered nine goals and six assists in 56 appearances, which included a title-clinching brace in the Carabao Cup Final against Arsenal.

Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi has also been nominated after an impressive season saw him net 13 goals to become the Premier League’s highest-scoring teenager in their debut campaign.

Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha is also nominated after a breakthrough season saw him produce two goals and one assist in 28 appearances, including a dramatic injury-time winner in an August Bank Holiday thriller at Newcastle.

Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Man Utd’s Kobbie Mainoo rounded out the six Young Men’s Player of the Year nominations.

The winners will be announced at Opera House Manchester on Tuesday 25 August 2026.
