2025-26 Premier League: Week 36 – Man City vs Brentford

Manchester City continue their push for the Premier League title at home against top-six chasing Brentford.

Victory would move Man City to within two points of league leaders, Arsenal, whilst Brentford can go sixth with a win if Bournemouth slip up at Fulham.

Team News

Rodri could return for Man City after he missed their last three matches due to a groin injury.

Ruben Dias (hamstring) and Josko Gvardiol (leg) remain sidelined.

Brentford will have Jordan Henderson back in contention for the first time since mid-March, having missed their last four matches due to a knock.

Vitaly Janelt will have his game time continuously managed following his return from a metatarsal injury in their 3-0 victory at home to West Ham.

Rico Henry (hamstring), Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo (all ACL) remain sidelined

When is Kick-Off?

Man City host Brentford at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 9 May at 5:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Having dominated much of the opening hour in their 3-3 draw at Everton amidst a lot of wasteful finishing, City will be pleased with a point after their late fightback from 3-1 down following a sloppy period of defensive play which has to improve here.

Brentford meanwhile returned to winning ways with a clinical 3-0 home win over West Ham but given how tight the race for sixth is, they can’t afford to drop points here but I do think that their priority will have to be soaking up City’s dominance then hitting them on the break.

If they do that then I do feel that they must score first because if City get in front, this could be an one-sided result.

Prediction: Man City 2-1 Brentford

Result: Man City 3-0 Brentford
