2025-26 League One: Week 46 – Stevenage vs Wigan

Play-off chasing Stevenage host Wigan Athletic on the final day of 2025-26 Sky Bet League One.

Victory would see Stevenage secure a play-off spot irrespective of what Luton achieve at Bolton, with the Hatters needing to win and hope that one of Stevenage or Bradford lose elsewhere in order to snatch a play-off place.

Team News

Daniel Phillips is available for Stevenage following completion of his three-match suspension.

Lewis Freestone (unspecified), Luther James-Wildin (calf), Harry Cornick (ankle) and Mathaeus Roberts (Achilles) remain sidelined.

Wigan could be without Morgan Fox after he was substituted in injury time of their 1-0 win at home to AFC Wimbledon, having come in the 66th minute as a substitute himself.

Llyton Chapman (knee), Baba Adeeko (groin), Jonny Smith (leg) and Joseph Hungbo (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Stevenage host Wigan at Lamex Stadium on Saturday 2 May at 3pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

With a play-off spot in their own hands, Stevenage should feel confident given their current form as long as they are more clinical than they were in their draw at Doncaster, as this is a big opportunity for them to finish in the play-offs if can stay focused on their own business.

Wigan meanwhile have nothing really to play for other than pride and league position plus have just one loss in their last six matches, so I expect them to at least give Stevenage a good test but this is a chance for them to experiment ahead of the off season.

I however do expect Stevenage to get the job done if they can just be clinical and avoid any silly defensive errors.

Prediction: Stevenage 2-1 Wigan
