2025-26 Premier League: Week 34 – Brighton vs Chelsea

Brighton & Hove Albion meet Chelsea in a huge Premier League showdown in the race for sixth.

Victory will move Brighton up to sixth and above their visitors, whilst Chelsea will stay sixth with a win.

Team News

Kaoru Mitoma is available for Brighton after he suffered cramp during their 2-2 draw at Tottenham last Saturday evening.

Diego Gomez though is ruled out after he suffered a knee injury during the clash in North London.

Lewis Dunk is available after he completed his two-match ban but Solly March (muscle), James Milner (knock), Stefanos Tzimas (ACL) and Adam Webster (knee) remain sidelined.

Chelsea will be without Estevao after the Brazilian suffered a serious hamstring injury during their defeat against Manchester United.

Enzo Fernandez is available after he was substituted against Man Utd with a calf injury, but Joao Pedro will face a late fitness test after he suffered a thigh injury during training and sat out that match.

Reece James, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (both hamstring), Filip Jorgensen (groin), Levi Colwill (ACL) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Chelsea at the AMEX Stadium on Tuesday 21 April at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Sat just one point behind their visitors, this is a huge chance for Brighton to put themselves right within contention for European qualification if are as clinical as they were at Tottenham, having twice fought from behind to snatch a deserved point in a pretty scrappy match.

Confidence is also something that Hurzeler’s Seagulls currently have a lot of in contrast to Chelsea who have won one of their last eight league matches and not scored in their last four top-flight fixtures, whilst their lack of an end product is now a serious worry now their European dreams are at risk.

Chelsea therefore need to pull out a strong performance because if they lose this then they’re in a proper scrap for European qualification – unless win the FA Cup, as I do think that Brighton have found the late-season momentum and it is hard to see them losing that on their own turf.

Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Chelsea

Result: Brighton 3-0 Chelsea
