Bromley Football Club have appointed Jacob Webb as their first-ever chaplain.

Jacob’s role will see him provide support to players, staff and supporters irrespective of their background or beliefs and offer an listening ear, alongside encouragement and friendly familiarity around the CopperJax Stadium.

Jacob is currently a local pastor at Hope Church, Hayes, and will regularly be present at the CopperJax Stadium on Thursdays to attend the club’s Ravens Chat, whilst providing a Bible study for players and providing an opportunity for anyone who wishes to have a casual conversation.

Following his appointment as the club’s first-ever Chaplain, Jacob is proud of his latest opportunity to further embrace the community and power of football to unite local people.

“I love football and I love people, so to be able to serve in this way is a real privilege. I’ve loved following the Ravens over the last few years, and as a local pastor I care deeply about this community. Football brings people together like nothing else — it’s a powerful way to share in both the joys and challenges of life, on and off the pitch.”

Bromley’s Head of Football Operations and Administration, Matt Hall is “delighted” to welcome Jacob to the club as their first Chaplain with aim of enabling players to connect religious beliefs with their club, whilst also being a confidant.

“In his role, Jacob will work with our players, staff and supporters, ensuring that those who have faith can connect this with their football Club.

“Further to this, everyone connected to this Club will have a listening ear and someone they can turn to, regardless of religion, background or beliefs. I feel this is a very important position, and I know Jacob is the perfect fit for us.”
