Erica Meg Parkinson has earned a surprise maiden England senior call-up for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers against Spain and Iceland.
Parkinson replaces Grace Clinton in the midfield section of the squad after the latter was ruled out through injury.
Aggie Beever-Jones has been ruled out with an ankle injury and is replaced by Beth Mead who was left out of March’s squad which beat Ukraine and Iceland.
Liverpool’s Grace Fisk is also sidelined with no replacement called up in defence.
Hannah Hampton, Anna Moorhouse and Ellie Roebuck have retained their places in the goalkeeping selection.
“Last month we started our campaign strongly with two good performances against Ukraine and Iceland, and we want to continue that momentum,” explained manager, Sarina Wiegman as England prepare to play their 500th match away to Iceland on 18 April.
“These upcoming matches against Spain and Iceland are important steps in our qualification journey, and we’re fully focused on performing at our highest level.
“This international window is very special for our team. Marking the 500th game in the Lionesses’ history is something we are all incredibly proud of, and it connects us to every player who has helped build this team over so many years.
“Facing Spain at Wembley in front of our fans will be a fantastic challenge, and travelling to Iceland for such a historic occasion will motivate us even more to be at our best too.”
England host Spain on Tuesday 14 April at Wembley Stadium, London, in a 7pm BST kick-off, before they visit Iceland at Laugardalsvollur, Reykjavik, on Saturday 18 April at 6:30pm CEST (5:30pm UK Time), with both fixtures broadcast live across ITV and ITVX.
