PREMA have announced Jose Garfias as Enzo Deligny’s replacement for the 2026 F3 season.
Deligny had originally been set to partner Louis Sharp and James Wharton but following the quiet departure of the Rosin family (Angelo Rosin had been a co-founder of the team in 1983) in January, Deligny opted to depart the team and joined rivals, Van Amersfoort Racing.
PREMA have consequently signed Mexican driver, Garfias as his replacement ahead of pre-season testing which gets underway in Barcelona across 10-12 February.
Upon confirmation of his unexpected full-time F3 drive – having previously replaced James Hedley at AIX Racing for the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix round, Garfias feels that he is “ready to take on this new challenge” despite the short notice as he believes this is the ideal move for him.
“It’s a big step in the right direction for my career. Racing in F3 is something that I have been working towards for the last few years, and doing it with PREMA means a lot to me.
“Very thankful for everyone who is making this possible, and grateful to PREMA for giving me the opportunity to prove myself on a bigger stage. I’m ready to make the most of it.”
PREMA Team Principal, Goffredo Pirro added: “We are happy to welcome José for the season.
“Even though he will be competing full-time in the series for the first time this year, he has a good amount of experience in Eurocup-3 and EuroFormula Open, so I think he will quickly adapt himself to the new environment and get positive results.”
Garfias began his single-seater career in the final round of the 2018-19 NACAM F4 season before he finished fourth in that category the following season, amidst a third-placed finish in Formula Mexico.
2021 saw him move to Europe where he finished 17th in GB3 but failed to score points in FRECA which saw him sit out 2022 due to a lack of sponsorship, before he returned to racing in 2023 in the Eurocup-3 where he took five podiums en-route to fourth in the standings.
He subsequently spent the last two seasons in EuroFormula where he finished seventh in his rookie season, before he took three wins and seven further podiums en-route to fourth in the standings.
