When is Kick-Off?

Swansea host Sheffield Wednesday at Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday 8 February at 12:01pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Swansea have lost one of their last nine league meetings against Sheffield Wednesday (W4, D4, L1).
  • Sheffield Wednesday have won one of their last seven league visits to Swansea (W1, D3, L3).
  • Swansea haven’t lost consecutive home matches against Sheffield Wednesday this century, having last done so in September 1980 and August 1983 respectively.
  • Zan Vipotnik has scored three goals in Swansea’s last two home games (W1, D1).
  • Sheffield Wednesday have conceded 13 goals without reply in their last seven league matches (L7).

Prediction

Currently sat firmly mid-table with a seven-point gap to the drop but eight points away from the last play-off spot, Swansea simply need to just focus on their game as safety is surely their priority at this moment, but they will view this as winnable if play as clinically as they did at Watford.

Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile are pretty much all but mathematically relegated now so their games are just free hits with one eye on preparations for next season, but they need to bring far more attacking quality if want a rare win after lacklustre 1-0 defeats to Wrexham and Blackburn in the past week.

There is however no doubt that their defensive play has improved but this is really Swansea’s win to throw away.

Prediction: Swansea 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Result: Swansea 4-0 Sheffield Wednesday
