2025-26 FA Cup: Second Round – Brackley vs Burton Albion

Brackley Town face Burton Albion in the concluding tie of the second round of 2025-26 FA Cup.

Victory would see Brackley qualify for the third round for the first time in their history, whilst Burton Albion seek a first appearance beyond this stage since 2022-23 season.

Team News

Brackley have no fresh injury concerns to report ahead of this game.

Burton have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-0 League One defeat at Wigan last Tuesday.

Udoka Godwin-Malife, Charlie Webster (both ankle), JJ McKiernan and Sebastian Revan (both hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Brackley host Burton Albion at St James’ Park on Monday 8 December at 7:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Brackley’s first-ever FA Cup meeting against Burton Albion.
  • Burton Albion are making their first competitive trip to Brackley.
  • Having hosted Burton in pre-season friendlies in July 2022 & 23, Brackley are yet to lose at home to the Brewsters (W1, D1) despite not keeping a clean sheet in both meetings.
  • Excluding penalty shootouts, Brackley are yet to lose at home to EFL opposition (W1, D2), albeit with both draws ending in a 2-2 result against Newport and Notts County in November 2014 & 2025 respectively.
  • Excluding penalty shootouts, Burton are unbeaten in their last five FA Cup ties against Non League opposition (W4, D1).

Prediction

Having claimed just two wins in their last seven matches across all competitions since their first-round victory, Brackley really need to summon the magic of the FA Cup and produce another gutsy display which saw them twice come from behind to eventually beat Notts County on penalties.

Burton Albion though are coming into this game off the back of two defeats having otherwise enjoyed a positive November, and will be buoyed by their strong recent FA Cup record against Non League opposition – but you have think that their eye might be slightly on their relegation battle in League One.

Clean sheets though have been a rarity in the last couple of months for Burton so I expect Brackley to really take the fight to their EFL opposition, but both teams are amongst the lowest scorers in their respective leagues.

On that note, I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends in a draw that is settled by penalties, which would suit the hosts after their exploits against Notts County.

Prediction: Brackley 1-1 Burton (Brackley to win on penalties)

Result: Brackley 1-3 Burton
