England and Scotland have discovered their groups at 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s England were drawn into Group L where they will face Croatia in their opening match on 17 June – with the latter having won their last World Cup meeting 2-1 after extra time in the semi-final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Three Lions will also face Ghana and Panama in their second and third group matches respectively.
Scotland beat Denmark 4-2 in their final qualifier to automatically qualify for their first World Cup since 1998, and Steve Clarke’s Tartan Army have landed in Group C with Brazil, Morocco and Haiti.
Reigning champions, Argentina have been placed in Group J where they will face Algeria, Austria and debutant, Jordan.
2018 winners, France have been placed in Group I where they will play Senegal in their opening group match like they did in 2002 edition, which saw Senegal win that clash by a 1-0 result.
Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus will then meet the winner of the second Intercontinental Play-Off path containing Bolivia, Iraq and Suriname in their second group match, then Norway in a potential blockbuster final match in their group.
Co-hosts, Mexico are in Group A and will kick off the tournament against South Africa in Mexico City on 11 June in the opening match, before facing South Korea on 18 June in Zapopan prior to their final group match against the winner of UEFA Play-Off Path D – containing Czech Republic, Ireland, Denmark and North Macedonia on 24 June in Mexico City.
Fellow co-hosts, Canada have been designated Group B and will kick off their tournament against the winner of UEFA Play-Off Path A; comprising of; Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales and Bosnia & Herzegovina in Toronto on 12 June, before facing Qatar and Switzerland in Vancouver on 18 and 24 June respectively.
USA have been designated Group D and will kick off their tournament against Paraguay on 12 June in Los Angeles, before facing Australia and the winner of UEFA Play-Off Path C (Slovakia, Kosovo, Turkey and Romania) on 19 and 25 June in Seattle and Los Angeles respectively.
Group stage matches will be played between 11 – 27 June with the top two from each group plus eight best third-placed countries progressing to the Round of 32, which will be played between 28 June – 3 July.
Round of 16 ties will take place between 4-7 July, before Quarter-Finals follow across 9-11 July, ahead of the semi-finals which are scheduled to be played in Arlington and Atlanta on 14 and 15 July respectively.
The third-placed play-off will be held at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, on Saturday 18 July, before the final is played at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on Sunday 19 July.
