2025-26 UEFA Europa League: League Phase – Forest vs Malmo

Nottingham Forest face Malmo in a league phase fixture in 2025-26 UEFA Europa League.

Victory could lift Forest into the seeded section of the knockout play-off spots, whilst Malmo will remain in the elimination zone regardless of the result.

Team News

Chris Wood could return for Forest following his recovery from a knee injury which has sidelined him for the last month.

Angus Gunn (knee), Ola Aina, Douglas Luiz (both hamstring), Dilane Bakwa (unspecified) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin) are still ruled out.

Malmo could be without Lasse Berg Johnsen after he missed their last two games due to an unspecified injury, but Daniel Gudjohnsen is back from suspension.

Erik Botheim (leg), Gentian Lajqi (ACL) and Arnor Sigurdsson (thigh) are sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Forest host Malmo at the City Ground on Thursday 26 November at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Forest have won two of their three previous meetings against Malmo in all UEFA competitions.
  • Malmo lost 1-0 on their only previous visit to Forest in September 1995 in the first round of that season’s UEFA Cup, which they lost on the away goals rule after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
  • Forest have kept clean sheets in their last two league phase matches (W1, D1).
  • Malmo are yet to win a league phase game this season (D1, L3).

Prediction

With growing confidence after a clinical demolition of Liverpool at Anfield, Forest have really found their feet under Sean Dyche now and they really should view this as a chance to further build momentum even if they might need to weather some early pressure.

Malmo meanwhile know that victory here is imperative if want to keep pace with those fighting for a knockout play-off spot at minimum, so I expect them to try and come out early doors to try and get the lead otherwise this could well be a long night.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Malmo

Result: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Malmo
