Grupo Televisa has acquired F1 broadcasting rights in Mexico until end of 2028 season.
Under the new deal, Mexican fans will receive live coverage of every Grand Prix via Sky Sports channels via Sky and Izzi, encompassing every practice, qualifying, Sprint and race sessions.
Grupo Televisa will also make the Mexico City GP plus two further Grands Prix available on Televisa’s free-to-air channels, whilst F1 TV will remain available in Mexico.
F1’s Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer, Ian Holmes has welcomed this new contract which he believes is “critical” to ensuring that Mexicans can continue to enjoy F1 beyond this season.
“The Mexican people are hugely passionate about Formula 1, so it’s critical for us to have an excellent broadcast partner in the country to ensure our fans are receiving the very best coverage of our sport.
“Televisa’s commitment and coverage will be second to none across Mexico and the move to them couldn’t be better timed, with the US Grand Prix in Austin this coming weekend, followed by the home race in Mexico City, where we know the drivers and teams will receive an incredible, warm welcome.”
Global Sports of TelevisaUnivision President, Olek Loewenstein added: “We are proud to announce that Formula 1, one of the fastest growing and most passionate sports spectacles in Mexico and worldwide, will be broadcast in its entirety through various multiplatform windows across both free and pay television.
“We thank Formula 1 for allowing us to be, for more than three years, the official home of all its Grands Prix in Mexico and for bringing our audiences the thrill of this world-class sporting event.”
