Huddersfield Town meet Bolton Wanderers in a massive clash in the race for the 2025-26 Sky Bet League One Play-Offs.
Victory would lift Huddersfield up to fourth in the table, whilst Bolton can displace the Terriers and climb to seventh with a win.
Team News
Huddersfield have no fresh injury concerns to report following the international break, which saw their trip to Luton postponed due to international call-ups.
Antony Evans (knee) and Mickel Miller (hamstring) face late fitness checks.
Will Alves (foot), Radinio Balker (ankle), Herbie Kane, Marcus McGuane (both groin), Zepiqueno Redmond (knee) and Jack Whatmough (calf) remain sidelined.
Bolton have no fresh injury concerns after a surprise 3-0 away defeat at Burton Albion.
Jordi Osei-Tutu and Will Forrester are currently nearing first-team returns from hamstring injuries, but won’t be risked unless match fit.
When is Kick-Off?
Huddersfield host Bolton at John Smith’s Stadium on Thursday 16 October in a 8pm BST kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Huddersfield have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Bolton (W4, L1).
- Bolton have avoided defeat in five of their last seven trips to Huddersfield (W4, D1, L2)
- Huddersfield haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last ten meetings at home to Bolton since a 3-0 EFL Trophy win in February 1993.
- 13 of Huddersfield’s 19 points so far this season have been scored at home (W4, D1, L1).
- Bolton are yet to win away from home this season (D3, L3).
Prediction
Having recently hit a rut with two wins in their last six league matches, Huddersfield need to find a way to continue tightening up defensively and get back to their initial attacking form if want to keep pace with the automatic promotion challengers.
Bolton meanwhile were just wasteful away at Burton and given their poor away form this season, they really need to sort out their defensive issues and lack of clinical finishing, which the Brewsters brilliantly exposed last weekend to dent their promotion push.
This clash therefore does already feel defining for the automatic promotion challenge prospects of both teams, but I do think that their weekend off will benefit Huddersfield as it is hard to know which Bolton team will turn up.
Prediction: Huddersfield 2-1 Bolton
Result: Huddersfield 1-2 Bolton
