Belgium too have no fresh injury or suspension concerns following their goalless draw against North Macedonia in Ghent.

Wales host Belgium on Monday 13 October at Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff, in a 7:45pm BST kick-off, live on BBC1 Wales and BBC 3 in rest of UK.

• Belgium have lost one of four previous FIFA World Cup qualifiers away to Wales (W2, D1, L1).
• Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne has scored in three of his last four appearances against Wales.
• Wales scored three goals in each of their two home qualifiers so far in this group (W2), as they beat Kazakhstan 3-1 in March then Liechtenstein 3-0 in June.
• Belgium have kept clean sheets in their last three matches (W2, D1), during which their two wins were both by 6-0 results over Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan respectively.

 

Prediction

After their defensive meltdown in a lacklustre first half away to England, Wales certainly need to knuckle down and produce a much tighter defence because this is pretty much do-or-die for their automatic World Cup qualification hopes, as wins for Belgium and North Macedonia would leave them needing a miracle.

Belgium though are coming into this game off the back of a scrappy goalless draw at home to North Macedonia whose resilient defence couldn’t be broken, particularly despite Belgium’s attacking quality so I do expect them to be motivated to get goals and a result here.

Wales however probably already had their minds on this game during the England friendly and with home advantage, I expect a serious response from the hosts but Belgium really should have enough quality to snatch a draw and set up a massive final two group games for both teams.
