2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week Eight – Wednesday

Millwall host Coventry City at The Den in a stand-out midweek Sky Bet Championship clash.

If West Brom and QPR slip up elsewhere, victory would put Millwall as high as third in the table.

Coventry can go second with a win or draw due to their superior goal difference over second-placed Stoke.

Team News

Millwall could welcome Luke Cundle (calf) and Femi Azeez (ankle) back into contention after the pair missed the Lions’ 1-1 draw at Swansea.

Coventry will be without Jack Rudoni after he missed their 3-0 home win over Birmingham due to a calf injury.

Ephron Mason-Clark (hamstring) is a doubt but Oliver Dovin (knee) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Millwall host Coventry at The Den on Wednesday 1 October at 7:45pm BST, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Millwall are winless in their last five league meetings against Coventry (D1, L4).
  • Coventry have lost one of their last five league visits to Millwall (W3, D2, L1).
  • Millwall have conceded four goals without reply in their last two league games at home to Coventry (L2).
  • No Millwall players has played more progressive carries this season in the Championship than Camiel Neghli and Aidomo Emakhu, who have both made 12 progressive carries apiece.
  • Coventry are yet to lose away from home in the league this season (W1, D2).

Prediction

Having weathered a fast start from Swansea at the weekend, Millwall did well to weather that storm and clinically snatch a draw once the action settled down and will now have an opportunity to build on that performance if can knuckle down as they have a good chance to get within the play-off spots.

Coventry meanwhile are still unbeaten in the league but lost here in the Carabao Cup’s second round in late August so will be aware of the task ahead, but they will have confidence from a ruthless display at home to Birmingham where they faced no shots on target against them.

Another impressive aspect of the win was how other players stepped up in Rudoni’s absence such has been his importance under Frank Lampard, which will only further boost their belief but Millwall are finding form so a draw might be a fair guess.

Prediction: Millwall 1-1 Coventry
