2025-26 Carabao Cup: Third Round – Crystal Palace vs Millwall

Crystal Palace meet Millwall in a South-London derby in the Third Round of 2024-25 Carabao Cup.

Victory would see Palace reach the fourth round in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2017-18 & 18-19 seasons.

Millwall meanwhile are seeking a first fourth-round appearance since they reached Quarter-Finals of the 1994-95 edition.

Team News

Palace manager, Oliver Glasner has announced that Walter Benitez and Jaydee Canvot will make their club debuts in the starting line-up.

Caleb Kporha (back), Chadi Riad (ACL), Cheick Doucoure (knee) Adam Wharton (adductor), Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah (both hamstring) also miss out.

Millwall have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw at Charlton in the Championship.

Lukas Jensen (Achilles), Danny McNamara (knee), Alfie Doughty, Femi Azeez (both hamstring), Billy Mitchell (quad), Casper De Norre and Rafiq Lamptey (both unspecified) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Crystal Palace host Millwall at Selhurst Park on Tuesday 16 September at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.

Prediction

Still unbeaten in all competitions this season, Palace can come into this local derby with confidence amidst expected changes after a physical battle in their goalless draw against Sunderland, where they were the more dominant but lacked an accurate winning final touch.

Millwall meanwhile had their own issues in the finishing touch against a resilient Charlton defence but they managed a late equaliser, which hopefully will give them belief that they can spring a surprise especially after their fiery FA Cup defeat here in March.

Nevertheless this South London derby means that local pride is also at stake beyond a fourth-round spot and with both teams set to make changes, I expect this to be another lively encounter but Palace’s quality should be the difference if can be more clinical.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Millwall

Result: Crystal Palace 1-1 Millwall (Crystal Palace win 4-2 on penalties)
