Chelsea have signed US forward, Alyssa Thompson from Angel City for a undisclosed club-record transfer fee.
Thompson’s move comes amidst her most successful season yet at Angel City with six goals in 18 appearances – with the NWSL season still in progress.
The 20-year-old has left Angel City with 15 goals in 69 appearances across all competitions for a club-record fee which is reportedly around £1m.
Thompson has signed a five-year contract with Soni Bompastor’s Blues until June 2030…………………..
Thompson spent two spells at Total Futbol Academy in her youth career amidst a stint at Real So Cal before she joined Angel City as first pick in the NWSL draft, during her senior year of high school (year 13 in UK terms) and went on to score on her competitive debut in a 2-1 loss to NJ/NY Gotham FC.
The now 20-year-old represents USA at international level and was part of the gold-medal winning 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20s Championship, before she was promoted to the senior squad in September of that year and made her debut away to England the following month.
Thompson has since gone on to score three goals in 22 senior international appearances for USA
