London City Lionesses have signed forward, Nikita Parris on a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Parris left Brighton in recent days following expiration of her contract having scored 12 goals in 28 appearances for the Seagulls during her one-year spell at the club.

London City Lionesses subsequently swooped to sign the 31-year-old ahead of their debut Women’s Super League campaign, with Parris “excited” to make the move to South London and play at the Copperjax Stadium, where the Lionesses groundshare with Bromley Football Club.

“I’m excited. It’s a very ambitious project and I’m really looking forward to meeting all the girls and getting started. The project here aligns with the challenges I want to meet and the goals I want to achieve. I’m going to give my all to make sure the team progresses.”

Lionesses’ Director of Football, Ronald Thompson added: “I’ve known Nikita for many years through the England pathway. She brings top-level experience and a winning mentality, and she’ll be a brilliant role model for the younger players in our group.”

Parris began her career at Kingsley United before she switched to Everton where she graduated through their academy to net 21 goals in 56 appearances.

2015 saw Parris move to Manchester City on an initial loan where she won two Women’s FA Cup and WSL League Cup titles apiece plus 2016 WSL across a four-and-a-half year stint in which she scored 62 goals in 127 appearances.

A two-season spell at Lyon followed with more success between 2019-21 as the French side won Division 1 Feminine, Coupe de France, Trophee des Championnes and UEFA Women’s Champions League in her first season, before she left with 33 goals in 53 appearances.

July 2021 saw Parris return to the WSL with Arsenal for one season before she moved to Manchester United and helped them win their first Women’s FA Cup title in 2023-24 season as she managed 25 goals in 57 appearances across two seasons, before she left for Brighton.

Parris represents England at international level with 17 goals in 74 appearances, and made four appearances for Team GB at 2021 Olympics in Japan.
