Sweden meet Germany in a top of Group C showdown to determine who advances as the group winners.
Sweden will win the group if they avoid defeat, whereas Germany must win to snatch the top spot in the group.
Team News
Sweden have no fresh injury concerns to report coming into this match, with Linda Sembrant and Jonna Andersson chasing a return to the starting line-up after they were dropped for the 3-0 win over Poland.
Germany have no fresh injury concerns although captain, Giulia Gwinn remains sidelined with a tournament-ending medial collateral ligament injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Sweden face Germany at Stadion Letzigrund, Zurich, Switzerland, on Saturday 12 July at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Sweden have never beaten Germany at UEFA Women’s Euro (L4) (3-2 – 1995, 1-0 – 1997, 3-1 – 2001, 1-0 – 2013, 0-0 – 2017)
- Germany have kept three clean sheets in their five previous meetings against Sweden at the UEFA Women’s Euro.
- Sweden have scored six goals in their last three matches without conceding in all competitions (W3).
- Two of Germany’s four goals in this group were scored by Lea Schuller.
Prediction
With three straight clean sheets and a dominant display over Poland where they pretty much controlled the game from the get-go, Sweden now need to use that confidence because this will be a tough test of their credentials especially from a defensive perspective.
Germany though will be buoyant by how they fought back to eliminate Denmark from a goal down at half time amidst debatable VAR decisions, so I expect them be up for this given their head-to-head superiority over the Swedes and top spot will be additional motivation.
I however can see Sweden doing enough defensively to frustrate the Germans but be clinical enough up front to snatch a draw to secure top spot and a place in the easier-looking half of the knockout stages.
Prediction: Sweden 1-1 Germany
Result: Sweden 4-1 Germany
