France look to secure a knockout spot in their second Group D match against struggling Wales in UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

France will secure a place in the knockout stages with victory, which in turn would eliminate Wales especially if Netherlands manage at least a draw against England in the teatime kick-off.

France have no fresh injury concerns to report after their opening victory over reigning champions, England.

Griedge Mbock however is a doubt after she sat out that match due to a calf injury.

Wales also have no fresh injury concerns to report with Ceri Holland having experienced cramp in their defeat to the Netherlands.

Stat Attack

• This is France’s first meeting against Wales at UEFA Women’s Euro.
• Wales lost their two previous meetings against France in this competition, which came in Qualifying for the 2013 edition (L2), as they suffered a 4-1 home loss and 4-0 away defeat.
• France are looking to win their opening two group matches for just the third time in this competition, having previously done so at 2013 and 2022 editions.
• Wales are looking to avoid suffering four consecutive losses for the first time since July – December 2023 across all competitions.

 

Prediction 

Having absolutely dominated England with a ruthless no-nonsense attacking display after soaking up early pressure, France will be oozing confidence until their heart is content coming into this match and I can’t see them producing anything less if they continue that momentum.

Wales meanwhile did well to shut out Netherlands for much of their game but once the Dutch got ahead, it was a case of minimising their defeat, so a 3-0 loss probably isn’t too bad for their first major tournament game but they absolutely have to be on their defensive game to get any result here.

I however do think that this is the end of Wales’ journey with a game to spare as France should have too much class for them.
