2024-25 Premier League: Week 38 – Man Utd vs Aston Villa

Manchester United entertain top-five-chasing Aston Villa on the final day of 2024-25 Premier League season.

Victory would see Utd finish 14th if Wolves and West Ham both fail to win elsewhere.

Villa can qualify for the Champions League with victory if Chelsea fail to win at Nottingham Forest or Manchester City and Newcastle suffer defeat elsewhere.

Should Villa draw then they will achieve Champions League qualification only if Newcastle lose at home to Everton.

Team News

Man Utd have no fresh injury concerns to report after their Europa League Final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao.

Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt (both knee) are still sidelined.

Villa will welcome Jacob Ramsey back into contention after he was suspended for their home win over Tottenham.

Youri Tielemans (muscle) and Marcus Rashford (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday 25 May at 4pm BST, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Prediction

With a toxic atmosphere anticipated following a lacklustre Europa League Final defeat of little quality and an embarrassing league finish guaranteed, Man Utd need to knuckle down and try to at least offer fans some hope of a decent performance to finish this wreckage of a season on a faint positive.

Villa meanwhile comfortably dispatched Spurs in their last outing in a confidently dominant display and with a top-five finish at stake if results elsewhere go their way, I can see them being fired up knowing that Utd are literally the walking dead at this moment with little confidence or motivation.

Utd though have proven pretty tough opposition for Villa at Old Trafford lately but on this occasion, I just can’t see Villa losing this if they turn up and get on the front foot early.

Prediction: Man Utd 0-2 Aston Villa

Result: Man Utd 2-0 Aston Villa
