Midfielder, Abdoulaye Doucoure has announced that he will exit Everton at the end of 2024-25 season.

Doucoure joined Everton in September 2020 after four years at Watford and has gone on to score 21 goals in 165 appearances, during which he netted a final-day winner against Bournemouth to keep the Toffees in the Premier League at the end of 2022-23 season at Leicester’s expense by just two points.

Everton have since offered the midfielder a new contract but Doucoure opted to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.

Addressing Doucoure decision to leave in a public statement, manager – David Moyes paid tribute to the 32-year-old for his commitment to the club and influence on other players.

“Doucs has been an influential player throughout his time at the Club, including since I returned as manager, and Evertonians will always be grateful for his dedication and crucial goals.

“Everyone at Everton thanks Doucs for his service and wishes him all the best for the future.”

Doucoure could make his final appearance away at Newcastle on the final day of the current season at 4pm BST on Sunday 25 May.

Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia and Ashley Young were previously confirmed to also be leaving the club this summer, having announced their departures prior to Everton’s Goodison Park farewell on Sunday (18 May), which ended in a 2-0 victory over Southampton.

Moyes also paid tribute to the latter trio ahead of that game as he said: “Since my return to the Club, I’ve seen what a great professional Ash is and know the leadership qualities he has brought to the squad during his time at Everton. His versatility, experience and know-how have also been really beneficial to the team and me.

“Asmir and Joao have also worked really hard and conducted themselves impeccably.

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I want to thank all three players for their service and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
