2024-25 Sky Bet League Two Play-Offs: Semi Final Second Leg – AFC Wimbledon vs Notts County

AFC Wimbledon host Notts County in the second leg of their play-off semi-final in 2024-25 League Two.

With a 1-0 lead from the first leg through Riley Harbottle’s 59th-minute header, AFC Wimbledon simply need to avoid defeat to book their spot in the play-off final.

Notts County simply must win by at least a two-goal margin if are to overturn their deficit and progress to Wembley.

Team News

AFC Wimbledon have no fresh injury concerns to report but defender, Sam Hutchinson is ruled out due to illness.

Notts County will be without Alassana Jatta after he was red carded in the first leg of this play-off semi-final at Meadow Lane.

David McGoldrick limped out of that game with what has now been confirmed to be a thigh injury, which has ruled him out of this leg.

Lucas Ness (hamstring) and Scott Robertson (quad) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

AFC Wimbledon host Notts County at Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday 17 May at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Although the first leg proved to be evenly-matched if hot-tempered at times, AFC Wimbledon certainly looked the more clinical and composed side which stands them in good stead coming into this leg where they need to put their recent home dip aside and deliver once more.

Notts County meanwhile are without their top two goalscorers when they need them the absolute most and I can see them struggling up top unless Mai Traore or Zac Denman can step up and deliver, which looks a very difficult ask and their tactical tweaks will therefore need to be spot on and clinical.

I however just can’t see them getting anything here sadly such will be the impact of Jatta and McGoldrick’s absences up front, although AFC Wimbledon can’t turn up and expect to steamroll them given their dip at home but I can see just one result coming.

Prediction: AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Notts County

Result: AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Notts County (AFC Wimbledon win 2-0 on aggregate)
