Stat Attack
- This is Notts County’s first-ever play-off meeting against AFC Wimbledon.
- AFC Wimbledon have won two of three previous visits to Notts County (W2, L1), during which they kept clean sheets in both victories.
- Notts County have won just one of their six previous meetings against AFC Wimbledon in League Two (W1, L5), which came in a 1-0 victory at home in October 2024 earlier this season.
- Notts County have won three of their four previous home legs in EFL Play-Offs (W3, L1)
- AFC Wimbledon drew 2-2 at Accrington Stanley in their only previous away leg in EFL Play-Offs in May 2015, before they went on to win the Play-Off Final against Plymouth.
Prediction
With just one win in their last six matches and a wasteful defeat to Doncaster last time out, Notts County really need to regroup and try to stop their leaky defence if they want to win this such is their attacking depth with Alassana Jatta and David McGoldrick up front.
AFC Wimbledon meanwhile have been in slightly better form but the winning consistency has been absent since mid-February, whilst one goal in their last four games will be a slight concern but they did clinically beat the Magpies at home in March which will give them some belief despite losing away in October.
Nevertheless this match certainly feels like a close battle on paper and I can see it translating into the result.
Prediction: Notts County 1-1 AFC Wimbledon
Result: Notts County 0-1 AFC Wimbledon
