2024-25 Premier League: Week 33 – Leicester vs Liverpool

Leicester welcome Liverpool to the King Power Stadium in a season-defining clash at opposite ends of the Premier League table.

Failure to win against the league leaders would see Leicester’s relegation confirmed at the full-time whistle, whilst Liverpool can be crowned champions with a win if Arsenal lose at Ipswich in a mid-afternoon kick-off.

Team News

Leicester could welcome Facundo Buonanotte back into contention after the Argentinean was ineligible to feature in their 2-2 draw at Brighton last weekend.

Victor Kristiansen, Harry Winks (both personal), Jeremy Monga (ankle) and Wout Faes (unspecified) could be available but Abdul Fatawu (ACL) remains ruled out.

Liverpool could welcome Darwin Nunez back into contention after he missed their 2-1 home win over West Ham due to illness.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (ankle) could make the bench after a month on the sidelines, but Joe Gomez (hamstring) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester host Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Easter Sunday 20 April at 4:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Having twice fought back for a deserved draw at Brighton, Leicester now need to bring that fighting spirit but crucially defend well if want any chance of starving off their now near-certain relegation, but I do feel that they simply need to score first then park the bus quickly if want a realistic chance of the win.

Liverpool meanwhile seem to have dropped the gears lately such is their gap to Arsenal whose priority seems to be more on the Champions League, and the intensity dip certainly showed in a scrappy win over West Ham where they were wasteful if not for two clinical goals and decent defending.

I however just can’t see Leicester getting anything because their defence is that vulnerable, it would be a shock if Liverpool weren’t to win but they might nick a goal given the Reds’ recent defensive slips.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Liverpool

Result: Leicester 0-1 Liverpool
