2024-25 Premier League: Week 31 – Brentford vs Chelsea

Brentford meet top-four chasing Chelsea in a West-London derby at Gtech Community Stadium.

Victory would lift Brentford back up to 11th in the table, whilst Chelsea will stay fourth with a win.

Team News

Mathias Jensen is available for Brentford after he missed their defeat at Newcastle due to illness.

Rico Henry (hamstring) could also feature but Josh Dasilva (knee), Fabio Carvalho (shoulder), Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (joint) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) remain ruled out.

Chelsea will again be without Wesley Fofana after he missed their win over Tottenham with a muscle injury.

Romeo Lavia (fitness) won’t be risked as part of his recovery plan with a long-term view to full fitness for next season, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension) and Omari Kellyman (hamstring) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Brentford host Chelsea at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 6 April at 2pm BST, albeit untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

After Sandro Tonali unintentionally converted his cross into a winning goal for Newcastle, Brentford will feel disappointed to had not got a point on Tyneside but they simply lacked the final touch at times when on top so a more polished end product will be ideal if they’re to get a win here.

Chelsea meanwhile certainly toiled for their clinical win at home to Tottenham amidst a wasteful end product and given their poor away form in the league currently, they really need a hugely improved performance if they’re to win this as Brentford will be the more fresh.

Although my initial instinct is that this will be close and end in a draw. I do think that Brentford could edge this if they can suck up Chelsea’s pressure and have a marginally better clinical edge at the other end.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Chelsea

Result: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea
