Charlton Athletic meet Huddersfield Town at The Valley in a huge showdown in the 2024-25 League One Play-Off Race
Victory would see Charlton stay fourth in the table but move to within five points of the last automatic promotion spot, before Wycombe and Wrexham play in mid-afternoon.
Huddersfield will stay sixth with a win before Bolton and Reading play in mid-afternoon.
Team News
Charlton have no fresh injury concerns following their 3-0 loss at Peterborough last weekend.
Ashley Maynard-Brewer (groin) and Miles Leaburn (quad) remain absent
Huddersfield will be without Dion Charles after he withdrew from the Northern Ireland squad with a hamstring injury at the start of the international break.
Radinio Balker (unspecified), David Kasumu, Nigel Lonwijk (both hamstring), Tom Iorpenda (back), Josh Koroma (calf), Rhys Healey, Herbie Kane, Tom Lees, Mickel Miller and Danny Ward (all knee) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Charlton host Huddersfield at The Valley on Saturday 29 March at 12:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Charlton are winless in their last five meetings against Huddersfield (L5).
- Huddersfield have lost just one of their last five league visits to Charlton (W2, D2, L1).
- Victory would see Huddersfield claim three consecutive away victories at Charlton for the first time across all competitions.
- Charlton have kept clean sheets in six of their eight home matches in 2025 (W7, D1).
- Huddersfield are unbeaten in their last five league visits to London-based opposition (W3, D2).
Prediction
Currently eight points off the last automatic promotion spot, Charlton really need to try and keep winning games and avoid more wasteful performances like they suffered at Peterborough if want an outside chance of avoiding the play-offs come end of season.
Huddersfield though occupy the last play-off spot but with Bolton, Leyton Orient and Reading in hot pursuit, they must find more winning consistency right now if want a shot at an immediate second-tier return – especially after a ruthless 5-1 home win over Crawley amidst their injury crisis.
The Terriers also seem to relish their trips to both Charlton and the capital in general in recent visits so I do expect them to provide a tough test for the Addicks, so a draw feels like a fair guess even if it is not what the hosts need.
Prediction: Charlton 1-1 Huddersfield
