Chelsea host Copenhagen in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in 2024-25 UEFA Conference League.
With a 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, Chelsea know that a win or draw would see them advance to the Quarter-Finals.
Copenhagen simply must win if want to progress to the last eight, although a 1-0 victory would force extra time and potentially penalties.
Team News
Chelsea could be without Reece James and Cole Palmer due to separate illnesses
Malo Gusto (knock) faces late fitness checks but could be available to return after he missed the Blues’ Premier League win over Leicester.
Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension), Marc Guiu (muscle), Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Omari Kellyman (all hamstring) are still ruled out.
Copenhagen have no fresh injury concerns but will again be without Roony Bardghji due to a cruciate ligament injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Chelsea host Copenhagen at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 13 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 4 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Chelsea won 2-1 in their only previous UEFA Conference League clash against Copenhagen, which came away in the first leg of this tie.
- Copenhagen are visiting Chelsea for the first time in this competition, but have drawn their last two visits in all competitions.
- Chelsea have kept three clean sheets in five meetings against Copenhagen in all competitions.
- Christopher Nkunku has scored three goals in two of his three home appearances for Chelsea in this season’s competition (W3).
- Copenhagen have lost one of their last four away games in this season’s competition (W2, D1, L1).
Prediction
With a quarter-final spot in their own hands, Chelsea have to be more clinical than they were in a sluggish league win over Leicester because they are strong in possession but have often lacked the final end product in recent weeks.
Copenhagen though are no pushovers but they must ideally score first so I do expect them to try and make as strong a start as possible, otherwise this could be the end of the road for their European adventures this season as I can’t see them somehow prevailing if Chelsea get the opening goal.
Either way, this does feel like it could again be pretty scrappy but I can see the hosts progressing with a win.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Copenhagen
Result: Chelsea 1-0 Copenhagen (Chelsea win 3-1 on aggregate)
