2024-25 League 2: Week 29 – Chesterfield vs Bromley

Chesterfield host Bromley in a huge clash in the race for the 2024-25 League Two Play-Offs.

Currently sat eight points from the final play-off spot in tenth position, victory could lift Chesterfield up to ninth if Grimsby fail to win elsewhere.

Bromley are a further point behind Chesterfield but will leapfrog their hosts with a win and could go ninth if Grimsby lose at home to Gillingham.

Team News

Chesterfield have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw at home to Port Vale.

Will Grigg and Chey Dunkley remain absent due to calf and neck injuries respectively.

Bromley have no fresh injury concerns either following a 1-1 draw at Notts County

When is Kick-Off?

Prediction

With just two points in three league games since the turn of 2025 and no clean sheets, Chesterfield know that this is now must-win if want to keep pace with the play-off contenders but they need to try and cut out their defensive mistakes especially after Port Vale took an early lead last weekend.

Bromley meanwhile dug in resiliently to snatch a clinical 1-1 draw at Notts County with a well-executed equaliser after conceding a harsh penalty, and I personally wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of the same here given their solid away form in this fixture.

A 1-1 draw therefore wouldn’t be too surprising but if Bromley can show more attacking fight than they did at Notts County, I can see them just having the edge here but it should be a closely-fought battle nevertheless.

Prediction: Chesterfield 1-2 Bromley

Result: Chesterfield 3-0 Bromley
