Arsenal host Monaco in a huge league phase encounter in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.
Locked on ten points apiece in seventh and eighth positions respectively, victory will see Arsenal or Monaco stay in the top eight, whilst the loser could drop into the seeded knockout play-off spots.
Team News
Oleksandr Zinchenko is a doubt for Arsenal after he missed their 1-1 draw at Fulham, due to a muscle injury.
Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori could both return from knee injuries.
Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White remain sidelined with knee injuries.
Monaco will be without the suspended defensive duo of Christian Mawissa and Wilfried Songo.
Denis Zakaria (hamstring), Soungoutou Magassa and Krepin Diatta (both unspecified) are doubtful for selection.
Folarin Balogun (shoulder), Mamadou Coulibaly (unspecified) and Edan Diop (foot) are ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Arsenal host Monaco at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 11 December at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have won one of two previous Champions League meetings against Monaco (W1, L1).
- Monaco won 3-1 on their only previous visit to Arsenal in February 2015, but prevailed on away goals rule after 3-3 aggregate draw following 2-0 home loss.
- Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have kept clean sheets in both of their home games in this league phase (W2).
- Monaco have failed to score in the first half in their two away league phase fixtures (W1, D1).
Prediction
Following a frustrating draw at Fulham despite their dominance, Arsenal need to just show more composure in their end product and control this game like they did at Craven Cottage.
Monaco meanwhile have been slightly inconsistent on the road lately with two wins in their last four away trips, but have more goals in this phase than the Gunners which will give them some hope.
I however would expect Arsenal to grind out a result given their home form but this won’t be easy.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Monaco
Result: Arsenal 3-0 Monaco
