2024-25 Premier League: Week 13 – Brighton vs Southampton

Brighton & Hove Albion host relegation-battling Southampton in a Premier League encounter.

Victory would lift Brighton up to second in the table, whilst Southampton will remain bottom regardless of the result.

Team News

Carlos Baleba is suspended for Brighton following his red card in their 2-1 win at Bournemouth.

Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Jack Hinshelwood (knee), Lewis Dunk, Tariq Lamptey (both calf) and Yankuba Minteh (illness) could be available.

Solly March (knee), James Milner and Adam Webster (both hamstring) remain absent.

Southampton could be without Paul Onuachu if he fails a fitness test on a minor injury.

Adam Lallana is however definitely ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Aaron Ramsdale (finger), Jan Bednarek (knee), Will Smallbone (thigh), Gavin Bazunu and Ross Stewart (both Achilles) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Southampton at the AMEX Stadium on Friday 29 November at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

With one league defeat in their last six games and a chance to go second, Brighton really should view this as theirs to lose especially after a clinical display at Bournemouth – aside from a late defensive lapse for David Brooks’ goal.

Southampton meanwhile certainly took a brave fight to Liverpool but defensive errors proved costly, particularly at 2-1 up when they arguably should of parked the bus and dug in defensively.

Russell Martin’s Saints though will have to be just as good here if want anything but I just can’t see Brighton losing this.

Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Southampton

Result: Brighton 1-1 Southampton
