James Wharton has completed ART GP’s driver line-up for 2025 F3 season.
Wharton made his F3 debut with Hitech GP at Silverstone where he finished 18th in the Sprint and 21st in the Feature Race, having replaced Martinius Stenshorne for the round.
The 18-year Australian then conducted post-season testing for ART GP and has now signed a deal to race for the team next season.
“I can’t thank ART Grand Prix enough for this incredible opportunity,” commented Wharton, who views this full-time move into F3 as the most important step in his career.
“This is undoubtedly the most significant step in my racing career so far, and I deeply appreciate the trust they’ve placed in me and my potential.
“I’m eager to start working with one of the most prestigious teams on the grid, and we’ll put in the hard work this winter to be fully prepared when the season kicks off.”
ART GP Team Principal, Sebastien Philippe is “very pleased” to complete his team’s driver line-up, with Wharton currently sat second in FRECA and is confident that the Aussie can deliver in F3.
“James has shown impressive results in FRECA, currently sitting in second place in the standings, and we believe he has all the qualities to succeed in Formula 3.
“His performance this season has been outstanding, and we are confident that he will be a strong contributor to the team as we move forward.”
Wharton will partner fellow rookie, Tuukka Taponen plus the returning Laurens van Hoepen.
2025 F3 season will open with Wharton’s home event down under in Melbourne, Australia on weekend of 14-16 March.
