Portugal host Scotland in their second League A match of 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
Victory would see Portugal top League A1 if they take victory and Poland fail to beat Croatia.
Scotland meanwhile can move into the top two with a win.
Team News
Portugal have no fresh injury concerns to report following their win over Croatia.
Scotland too have no fresh injury concerns to report following their loss to Poland.
When is Kick-Off?
Portugal host Scotland on Sunday 7 September at Estadio Da Luz, Lisbon, at 7:45pm BST, live on ITV4 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Portugal’s first Nations League match against Scotland.
- Scotland are winless in seven previous away visits to Portugal in all competitions (D1, L6).
- Portugal have scored 13 goals and conceded one goal in their last six home games against Scotland.
- Portugal have scored in three of their last four home matches in this competition (W3, L1).
- Two of Scotland’s last three goals have been scored by Scott McTominay.
Prediction
Following a pair of scruffy goalless performances in the knockout stages of Euro 2024 which ended in a Quarter-Final exit, Portugal certainly bounced back with a clinical display against Croatia given that both teams were otherwise closely matched.
Scotland meanwhile still looked defensively sloppy in the first half against Poland akin to their Euro 2024 performances, but they had more intent in the second half with deserved equalisers until a silly foul gifted the Polish victory.
Now if Steve Clarke can get his Tartan Army playing like they did in that second half and more focused defensively, they might just get something here if lucky but I don’t see Portugal losing this.
Prediction: Portugal 2-1 Scotland
Result: Portugal 2-1 Scotland
