Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has vowed to “optimise” his performance at 2024 Belgian Grand Prix.

Verstappen finished fifth at the Hungarian GP after a “tricky” race packed with “childish” team radio rants, off-track overtaking and a reckless lunge into Turn 1 when he battled Lewis Hamilton for third place.

The 26 year-old is now eager to bounce back after Lando Norris cut his title lead down to 76 points, but is keen to focus on his performance amidst the possibility of a ten-place grid penalty if he changes his engine and rain forecast.

“We have been working as a Team to optimise our performance and get the best out of the car that we possibly can. Of course the weather makes things a bit more unpredictable but we will see what the race brings.”

After the Belgian GP at Spa Francorchamps, F1 will head on a four-week summer break with Verstappen keen to have a rest, although he wants to go off on his holidays on a positive note.

“The Team have been working very hard and, being the last race before the summer break, we are looking forward to having a well deserved rest and want to come back stronger; for this weekend, we will try and deliver the best result possible.”
