UEFA Euro 2024: Round of 16 – Germany vs Denmark

Tournament hosts, Germany meet Denmark in the Round of 16 at UEFA Euro 2024.

Germany topped Group A unbeaten to reach this stage whilst Denmark scraped through as Group C runner-up without winning a game – having drawn each of their three group matches.

Antonio Rudiger is a doubt for Germany after having suffered a thigh injury despite playing the entirety of their 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their last Group A fixture.

Jonathan Tah however was booked in that game and will miss this tie as a consequence, having picked up two yellow cards.

Denmark will be without midfielder, Morten Hjulmand who is suspended after he picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in their 0-0 draw against Serbia.

When is Kick-Off?

Germany face Denmark at Westfalenstadion, Dortmund, on Saturday 29 June at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on ITV1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Having had the opportunity to rest players in their scrappy draw against Switzerland, Germany were lucky to top the group but their attacking press will certainly be their key asset here if they want to break Denmark down.

The Danes though might not be prolific in front of goal but they can be difficult defensively to beat no matter how long the opposition is on top as England found out, so I do expect them to try and play hard at the back but they now need to raise their attacking gears to a new level.

Germany though do have the creativity and intensity to end Denmark’s adventures here and I can see a routine result brewing.

Prediction: Germany 2-0 Denmark

Result: Germany 2-0 Denmark
