2023-24 Premier League: Week 25 – Manchester City vs Brentford

Manchester City welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium in a rearranged Premier League match.

Victory would see Man City climb above Arsenal into second in the table and one point off leaders – Liverpool, whilst Brentford can go 13th with a win.

Man City have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 1-1 draw against Chelsea, as Josko Gvardiol (ankle) and Jack Grealish (groin) remain absent.

Brentford will be without defender, Ethan Pinnock after he missed their defeat to Liverpool with an ankle injury.

Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee), Kevin Schade (adductor) and Bryan Mbeumo (ankle) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Man City host Brentford at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 20 February at 7:30pm GMT, albeit untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Having blown a huge opportunity to keep the pressure on Liverpool following a scrappy draw at home to Chelsea, Man City need to sort out their end product because it was largely sloppy and they were frankly lucky to draw after conceding first from a quick counter-attack.

Brentford meanwhile weren’t exactly better against Liverpool because they had spells of dominance but couldn’t convert their chances, whilst their defence were outclassed through poor marking and sloppy spacial exposure which the Reds clinically punished.

Both teams therefore do have work to do but Man City really should win this game but they might need to be patient like they were in West London a few weeks ago, otherwise they could lose further grip on the title race.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Brentford

Result: Manchester City 1-0 Brentford
