Roundup of festive Championship action as Leicester sit top heading into Christmas.

Leicester extended their title lead to six points with a dominant 3-0 home win over rock-bottom Rotherham, courtsey of Patson Daka’s brace and Cesare Casadei’s strike.

Ipswich remain in second place despite suffering a 4-0 defeat away to third-placed Leeds at Elland Road, as Pascal Struijk Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe netted for the hosts – whilst Leif Davis gifted his former team their second goal with a deflection into his own net.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis poked in a 42nd minute winner as fourth-placed Southampton scraped past third-bottom QPR, despite having finished with ten men after Shea Charles’ red card.

Fifth-placed West Brom suffered a narrow defeat at Carabao Cup semi-finalists, Middlesbrough after Morgan Rogers struck a 40th minute winner for the hosts.

Hull round out the top six following their 3-2 defeat at Bristol City after goals from Aaron Connolly and Ozan Tufan cancelled out Tommy Conway’s penalty to put the Tigers ahead, only for Anis Mehmeti and Jason Knight to snatch victory for the Robins.

Second half goals from Mileta Rajovic and Rhys Healey saw Watford come from behind to beat Blackburn 2-1, which left the Hornets sat two points off the top six.

Down in the relegation zone, Sheffield Wednesday remain second bottom after Akin Famewo netted a 87th minute winning own-goal for Cardiff in a 2-1 comeback win at Hillsborough, in which Karlan Grant cancelled out Anthony Musaba’s opening goal.

Second-half goals from Sam McCallum and Borja Sainz saw Norwich beat Huddersfield 2-0 at Carrow Road, which left the Terriers sat two points above the bottom three.

Millwall moved three points clear of the drop zone with a goalless draw away to Stoke, as the Potters earned a point in their first match under Steven Schumacher.

Elsewhere, Morgan Whittaker netted a 86th minute equaliser to rescue Plymouth a 3-3 draw at home to ten-men Birmingham City, as the visitors saw Krystian Bielik red carded amidst goals from Jay Stanfield, Jordan James and Juninho Bacuna.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Callum O’Hare and Kasey Palmer netted in a 3-0 win for Coventry away to Sunderland, as the Black Cats lost their first game under their new manager – Michael Beale.

Finally, Swansea ended their six-match winless home run with a 2-1 victory over Preston, courtsey of Jamie Paterson’s brace, despite Liam Millar’s equaliser for the Lilywhites.
