2023-24 Premier League: Week 16 – Luton vs Manchester City

Relegation-battling Luton Town host Premier League title-chasing Manchester City at Kenilworth Road.

Victory would lift Luton out of the relegation zone if Everton lose elsewhere, whilst Man City will stay fourth no matter the result.

Tom Lockyer could return for Luton after he sat out their dramatic defeat to Arsenal in midweek with a back injury.

Marvelous Nakamba (knee), Albert Sambi Lokonga (hamstring) and Cauley Woodrow (calf) could return but Mads Andersen, Dan Potts (both hamstring) and Reece Burke (thigh) remain ruled out.

Man City could welcome Jeremy Doku back into contention after he sat out their defeat at Aston Villa in midweek, having suffered a leg injury during last weekend’s draw at home to Tottenham.

Jack Grealish and Rodri could return from suspension but Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Luton host Man City on Sunday 10 December in a 2pm GMT kick-off at Kenilworth Road, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Prediction

Despite suffering a last-gasp defeat to Arsenal, Luton should be incredibly proud of how fearless they were against the Gunners to twice come from behind and even lead, but they now must take the positives and apply those lessons here if want to boost their survival hopes.

Man City meanwhile will be relieved to have Rodri and Grealish back after the pair missed their defeat at Villa, where they looked toothless and lacked composure in their end product amidst sluggish defending which got desrvedly punished.

I however do expect City to bounce back if they get on the front foot with an aggressive performance despite their recent poor away form, but they will need to be wary of Luton’s resilient defence although it is hard to see Luton getting anything given the quality contrast.

Prediction: Luton 0-2 Manchester City

Result: Luton 1-2 Manchester City
