2022-23 Premier League: Week 12 – Wolves vs Leicester City

Wolves welcome Leicester to Molineux in a crunch relegation showdown at foot of Premier League table.

At least one point could be enough to lift Wolves out of the relegation zone if Aston Villa or Leeds lose elsewhere, whilst Leicester can move out of the bottom three with a win and potentially go 15th depending upon results elsewhere.

Toti Gomes is a doubt for Wolves after he missed their defeat at Crystal Palace in midweek with an unspecified injury.

Rayan Ait Nouri (illness) is a doubt but Chiquinho, Sasa Kalajdzic (both knee), Pedro Neto (ankle) and Raul Jimenez (groin/adductor) remain ruled out.

Leicester could welcome James Maddison back into contention after he sat out their midweek win against Leeds due to suspension.

Jonny Evans (calf) is again doubtful but Wilfried Ndidi (hamstring), Caglar Soyuncu, Ryan Bertrand (both knee) and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) remain absent.

Prediction

With Steve Davis now in charge until at least mid-season, Wolves’ task surely has to be to find consistency because they clearly have made progress in recent games, especially in midweek at Palace where they looked more lively in attack and clinical in their end product.

Davis though should be concerned about their defending because their defence was solid in the first half yet dropped across the second half, which proved costly and allowed Palace to snatch the win so improvement is needed at the back here.

Leicester meanwhile finally seem to have found their feet in defence with three clean sheets in four matches, whilst their attack is still as strong as usual which particularly showed against Leeds on Thursday because the Foxes were clinical despite being outplayed.

This game however is one where Leicester should do well if can get on the front foot and take their chances against a Wolves team who lack much end product, yet Molineux hasn’t been kind to the Foxes in the Premier League but this feels like a huge opportunity for the visitors.

Prediction: Wolves 0-1 Leicester

Result: Wolves 0-4 Leicester
