2021-22 Premier League: Week 37 – Watford vs Leicester

Watford welcome Leicester City to Vicarage Road in a dead rubber Premier League clash.

Victory would see Watford stay 19th in the table, whereas a win would see Leicester climb to ninth if Brighton lose at Leeds.

Hassane Kamara is available for Watford after he missed Wednesday’s goalless draw against Everton through an one-match suspension.

Tom Cleverley (rib), Nicolas Nkoulou (groin) and Joao Pedro (knock) are doubts whilst Kiko Femenia and Josh King (both illness) are unlikely to be risked unless declared match-fit by club doctors.

Juraj Kucka, Imran Louza, Emmanuel Dennis, Ismaila Sarr (all knee) and Cucho Hernandez (hamstring) are ruled out.

Leicester could welcome Wesley Fofana back into the starting line-up after he sat out Wednesday’s win over Norwich with a calf injury.

Ricardo Pereira (hamstring), Ryan Bertrand and Wilfred Ndidi (both knee) remain absent.

Prediction

Now the pressure is off them, Watford looked a more rounded team in Wednesday’s goalless draw with a more solid connection between defence and attack, which has been missing for most of the season whilst Ben Foster’s saves as Everton grew desperate for goals were crucial.

Leicester meanwhile were dominant from midfield into attack in their midweek win over Norwich with clinical finishing and excellent saves from Kasper Schmeichel proving key, even if their defence still seems a concern at times in terms of stability and back-tracking.

I though am expecting Watford to face another difficult test of their solidness as they continue to fight for a place in next season’s squad under Rob Edwards, particularly because I can see Leicester having more trickery up their attacking sleeve than Everton which could cause issues here.

Prediction: Watford 0-2 Leicester

Result: Watford 1-5 Leicester
