2021-22 Premier League: Week 37 – Leeds vs Brighton

Leeds United welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Elland Road in a must-win Premier League encounter.

Victory would see Leeds climb out of the relegation zone potentially for a minimum of a few hours if Burnley also win earlier on Sunday.

Brighton meanwhile can go eighth with a win if Wolves lose at home to Norwich.

Jack Harrison is a doubt for Leeds after he suffered a knock in Wednesday’s loss to Chelsea.

Raphinha (cramp) and Patrick Bamford (foot) are doubts but Daniel James is suspended after he was sent off in midweek.

Luke Ayling (suspension), Adam Forshaw (knee), Crysencio Summerville (ankle), Tyler Roberts (hamstring) and Stuart Dallas (thigh) remain absent.

Brighton could welcome Jeremy Sarmiento back from a hamstring injury.

Enock Mwepu (groin) and Jakub Moder (knee) remain absent.

Prediction

Following a toothless attacking performance in their midweek loss to Chelsea, Leeds certainly need a massive effort here because if results elsewhere go against them, they could be as good as relegated come Sunday evening by virtue of their goal difference alone.

Jesse Marsch though should be very worried about his team’s discipline after two red cards in their last two matches, although they did well defensively to limit Chelsea to just three goals amidst waves of attacks from the visitors.

Brighton meanwhile are coming here off the back of arguably their most complete Premier League performance, having thrashed Manchester United last weekend with excellent attacking intensity, movement and pressing which can’t be faulted at all.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls also boast seven goals without reply in their last two matches, so I am expecting them to come out with fighting confidence and chase a third straight win, although they’re probably going to need to be patient against Leeds’ poor defence who have everything to lose here.

Prediction: Leeds 0-2 Brighton

Result: Leeds 1-1 Brighton
