Wolves welcome Manchester City to Molineux in a rearranged Premier League clash.
Victory would see Wolves stay eighth in the standings, whereas Man City can re-open their three-point lead in the title race against Liverpool with a win.
Team News
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea as Nelson Semedo (hamstring), Max Kilman (ankle)) and Daniel Podence (foot) remain absent.
Man City will be without Ruben Dias until 2022-23 pre-season after the Portuguese defender suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Newcastle.
Kyle Walker (ankle), John Stones (muscle) and Benjamin Mendy (personal) remain absent.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have won two of their last five meetings against Man City (W2, L3).
- Man City are unbeaten in three of their last five league visits to Molineux (W2, D1, L2).
- Raul Jimenez has scored in each of Wolves’ last two home matches against City (W1, L1).
- Hwang Hee-Chan and Francisco Trincao have been substituted in more league matches than any other Wolves players this season, having both been substituted on 15 occasions.
- No Man City player this season has scored more headed goals in the Premier League than Raheem Sterling, who has headed in three of his 12 league goals.
Prediction
Having weathered waves of Chelsea attacks on Saturday, Wolves did incredibly well to fight back with two well-worked late goals but they now need to build on the positives of that result here if they want to keep their faint top-seven hopes alive.
Man City meanwhile showed no hangover from their Champions League exit except a briefly slow start in Sunday’s mauling of Newcastle, although they were repeatedly frustrated but clinical finishing ultimately proved crucial until they hit their strides in the second-half.
Molineux though can be a tough place to go if Wolves are on their game so I expect this to be a difficult contest, which could actually prove decisive in the title race for City if they aren’t in full gears but I just can’t see an off-day for the visitors unless Wolves incredibly frustrate them defensively.
Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
Result: Wolves 1-5 Manchester City
