2021-22 Premier League: Week 18 – Wolves vs Chelsea

Wolves welcome Chelsea to Molineux in an untelevised Super Sunday clash in the race for Europe.

Victory would see Wolves climb to sixth whereas Chelsea could go second with a win for a few hours at minimum.

Raul Jimenez is set to return for Wolves after missing their win at Brighton in midweek as he served an one match ban.

Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee), Rayan Ait-Nouri (groin), Hee-Chan Hwang (hamstring), Fabio Silva and Yerson Mosquera (both Coronavirus) are ruled out.

Chelsea could welcome Mateo Kovacic back from illness after the midfielder has missed almost two months with a hamstring injury, followed by a bout of Coronavirus.

Kai Havertz (illness), Jorginho (back) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (knock) are doubts but Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell (all Coronavirus) are ruled out, although Chilwell is already absent with a knee injury.

Prediction

Having endured two contrastable 1-0 results in their last two matches, Wolves come into this game as a team difficult to beat especially after an excellent attacking display at Brighton where they looked bright in movement and defence with great saves.

Chelsea however were dominant for much of their match against Everton but wasted chances through impatient finishing, which is a worryingly common theme now within the team and they did seem to lose steam in the second half just to add extra concern.

Now if Wolves can sit deep and frustrate Chelsea defensively but maximise their pace and movement on attack, I reckon that they could well get the win but a draw would be a strong result.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Chelsea

Result: Wolves 0-0 Chelsea
