2021-22 Premier League: Week 15 – Everton vs Arsenal

Everton look to end their eight league match winless run as Rafael Benitez’s Toffees welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park in Monday Night Football.

Victory could lift Everton up to 12th in the table, whereas Arsenal can reclaim fifth with a win.

Mason Holgate is available for Everton after completing a three match ban after he was sent off against Tottenham in early November.

Yerry Mina (hamstring) and Andre Gomes (calf) both face late fitness tests but Salomon Rondon suffered a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s loss to Liverpool and now is ruled out alongside Tom Davies (knee) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (quad).

Arsenal could be without Bern Leno due to a groin injury which forced him to miss Thursday’s defeat at Manchester United.

Granit Xhaka (knee) and Sead Kolasinac (ankle) remain ruled out.

Prediction

Despite having several key players out injured, there is little excuses for Everton’s awful drop in form but the Toffees did perform largely well defensively against Liverpool on Wednesday, yet were simply outplayed in attack amidst poor marking in defence at crucial moments.

Arsenal meanwhile made an excellent start against Man Utd on Thursday yet were just simply outclassed in defence despite showing excellent quality in attack with control, although the Gunners’ away form this season is a concern with just two wins in seven away league matches.

On that note, this match surely won’t finish goalless but unless Everton sort out their defensive issues and can start scoring, I can see just one result coming here.

Prediction: Everton 0-2 Arsenal

Result: Everton 2-1 Arsenal
