2021-22 Premier League: Week 13 – Leicester vs Watford

Leicester City come up against former manager, Claudio Ranieri, as the Italian brings Watford to the King Power Stadium in an untelevised Super Sunday clash.

Should Everton lose elsewhere, victory could lift Leicester as high as eighth, whereas a win could see Watford climb as high as 11th in the table.

Jonny Evans is a doubt for Leicester after suffering a thigh injury during the warm-up ahead of Thursday’s Europa League win over Legia Warsaw.

Youri Tielemans (calf), James Justin (knee), Ricardo Pereira (hamstring) and Wesley Fofana (leg) are ruled out.

Watford will be without Ismaila Sarr after the Senegalese striker suffered a knee injury during last weekend’s 4-1 win over Manchester United.

Juraj Kucka is available after serving an one match ban but Nicolas N’Koulou (hamstring) joins Peter Etebo (quad), Francisco Sierralta, Christian Kabasele (both hamstring), Kwadwo Baah (ankle) and Ken Sema (knee) on sidelines.

Prediction

Consistency frustratingly has been Leicester’s biggest issue throughout this season yet on Thursday evening, they looked well organised across the pitch with particular pace in their passes and on runs when on the attack but they need to show more of that quality domestically from now on.

Watford meanwhile were simply excellent in their dismantling of Man Utd because they got on the front foot early and never lifted the gas with direct high intensity, which could well cause some issues if Emmanuel Dennis can terrify the Foxes’ defence with his attacks.

Sarr though will be a huge loss but his absence now offers an opportunity for Joao Pedro and Cuco Hernandez to step up and add extra firepower alongside Dennis and Joshua King, otherwise this could be an one-sided game if Leicester play like they did in midweek.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Watford

Result: Leicester 4-2 Watford
