Euro 2020: Group A – Switzerland v Turkey

Switzerland meet Turkey in their final Group A match as both teams look to keep their title dreams alive in a winners-take-all clash.

Anything other than a defeat would put Switzerland in a position to advance although a draw might not be enough, whereas Turkey must win to stand any chance of advancing as one of four best third-placed group finishers.

Switzerland have no fresh injury concerns to report with manager, Vladimir Petkovic likely to name an unchanged line-up for this match.

Turkey also have no fresh injury concerns although Umut Meras could be snubbed after struggling with a knock in the first half of Wednesday’s loss to Wales.

Prediction

Having delivered a lacklustre performance devoid of much passion in Italy on Wednesday evening, Switzerland have to buck up their ideas and show more attacking bite because even a draw here might not be enough to see them through as one of four best third-placed finishers.

Turkey meanwhile will feel slightly disappointed with their result against Wales because they were largely in the game and could of gotten a point, if not for various defensive mistakes which cost them and need to be completely ironed out if they’re to win here.

Scrapping over third though is something that neither team had anticipated heading into this group but if Switzerland can repeat their performance from against Wales here last weekend, I fancy them to just edge this battle.

Prediction: Switzerland 1-0 Turkey

Result: Switzerland 3-1 Turkey
