2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying: Scotland vs Faroe Islands

Scotland welcome Faroe Islands to Hampden Park in a Group F clash in qualifying for 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Victory would see Scotland improve to second in the group if Austria lose to Denmark.

Faroe Islands could go second themselves with a huge win coupled with a loss for Austria by two goals or more.

Scotland have no fresh injury concerns to report after Sunday’s 1-1 draw in Israel, with a full squad in contention for selection.

Faroe Islands also have no fresh injury issues to report as Hakan Ericson looks to rotate his squad.

Prediction

Scotland were made to work hard for Sunday’s 1-1 draw in Israel because they weren’t clinical enough to snatch a win, although they did seem to lack speed in the central third to race up the pitch and pressure Israel’s defence with those on flanks doing most of the work.

Faroe Islands meanwhile were dangerous in Austria from set pieces yet poor man marking both defensively and from own corners cost them, so will certainly need to be clinical if are to get goals here.

I am therefore going to call this a home win given Scotland’s form in this fixture, although their midfield could do with being much sharper when charging forward to attack in order to create more opportunities, whilst their defence could be vulnerable at set pieces if not careful.

Prediction: Scotland 3-1 Faroe Islands
