Preston North End welcome Bristol City to Deepdale in Friday Night Football from the Sky Bet Championship.
Victory will temporarily take Preston up to 13th ahead of the weekend’s action, whereas Bristol City could go sixth with a win.
Team News
Brad Potts and Ryan Ledson both face late fitness tests for Preston after missing Tuesday’s away defeat at Barnsley with respective knocks.
Louis Moult, Billy Bodin (both knee), Ben Pearson (ankle) and Patrick Bauer (Achilles) remain absent.
Bristol City will be without Famara Diedhiou who was sent off in Tuesday’s defeat to Millwall.
Chris Brunt (calf), Tomas Kalas (leg), Nakhi Wells (arm) and Jamie Paterson (hip) are all considered doubts.
Jay Dasilva (shin), Alfie Mawson (knee), Liam Walsh (quad), Joe Williams (thigh), Nathan Baker and Steven Sessegnon (both hamstring) are ruled out until January at earliest whilst Andreas Weimann (knee) is a long-term absentee.
Stat Attack
- Preston are unbeaten in their last 14 meetings against Bristol City (W8, D6).
- Bristol City have taken just four points from their last seven trips to Deepdale (D4, L3).
- Both teams have scored in 10 of their last 13 meetings.
- Five of Preston’s last six home goals in their last four matches at Deepdale have come after half-time.
- Nakhi Wells has scored in two of his last three away appearances for Bristol City (W1, L2).
Prediction
Preston will be disappointed by Tuesday’s loss to Barnsley but they were ultimately their own downfall with some poor defending in the conceding of both goals, despite taking an early lead and showing real attacking threat throughout most of the match.
Bristol City also were masters of their own defeat to Millwall because they failed to react to a blocked shot from a free-kick in their first leaked goal before man-marking errors allowed the Lions to get a second, so defending will need to improve if the Robins want a win on top of showing more attacking intent.
Add in the closeness of recent meetings in this fixture with last three meetings all finishing as draws then I can see another draw coming here given Preston’s home issues this season.
Prediction: Preston 1-1 Bristol City
Result: Preston 1-0 Bristol City
