2020-21 Premier League: Week Nine – Sheffield United vs West Ham United

Sheffield United welcome West Ham United to Bramall Lane in the second of a Super Sunday quadruple header.

Victory could see Sheffield United move off the foot of the Premier League table, whilst West Ham look to climb as high as seventh with a win.

Enda Stevens is a doubt for Sheffield Utd after suffering a knee injury during the Blades’ defeat at Chelsea a fortnight ago.

John Egan (concussion), Sander Berge (Coronavirus) and Rhian Brewster (muscle) are doubts whilst John Fleck (back) plus Lys Mousset are unlikely to feature until early December.

Jack O’Connell remains sidelined indefinitely with a knee injury.

West Ham could welcome Michail Antonio back from a hamstring injury which saw him miss their last two matches against Liverpool and Fulham,  although he is subject to a late fitness test ahead of the trip to Bramall Lane.

Mark Noble (ribs) is fit to return whilst Angelo Ogbonna (groin) is a doubt and could join Andriy Yarmolenko (Coronavirus) on sidelines.

Prediction

Sheffield Utd can take heart from their attacking effort at Chelsea last time out because they’re clearly on an upward trajectory although their defending at times once they claimed the lead was sadly questionable, given how Chelsea were able to create many opportunities once they hit their stride without the Blades attempting to regain control and dictate play.

West Ham meanwhile simply need to be more clinical after wasting several opportunities against Fulham despite showing excellent energy and creativity in the build-up to each shot, so they will definitely relish this clash against a Blades team yet to win in the league this season and potentially missing key defenders in Egan and Stevens.

On that note, much of how Sheffield Utd perform could boil down to tactics if Stevens and Egan are both absent because if those two don’t feature then I can’t see West Ham not winning this by a mile.

Prediction: Sheffield United 0-2 West Ham

Result: Sheffield United 0-1 West Ham
