2020-21 UEFA Champions League Group Stage: Manchester City vs Olympiacos

Manchester City welcome Olympiacos to the Etihad Stadium as they look to boost their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of this season’s Champions League.

Victory will see Man City remain top of Group C but a win would put Olympiacos into top two, although if Porto fail to match Olympiacos’ result then the Greek team will go to the summit of Group C.

Man City have no fresh injury concerns as Gabriel Jesus nears a return from a quad injury but is unlikely to be risked in this match.

Sergio Aguero (knee), Fernandinho (leg) and Benjamin Mendy (unspecified) are still sidelined and not expected to return until after the international break.

Olympiacos have no fresh injury concerns as Mady Camara, Ousseynou Ba, and Hillal Soudani remain absent after positive Coronavirus tests last week.

Prediction

Man City were absolutely brilliant on Saturday at Sheffield United because they just unleashed ruthless waves of attack which the Blades somehow defended impressively against, although the Citizens could of perhaps been more patient and clinical with some of their shots at times.

Olympiacos meanwhile need to come out with a sharper performance than they produced at Porto last week because they were simply solid but made various basic mistakes like a pass in the build-up to Porto’s first goal, yet wasted their own chances including when on rebound.

This should therefore be a good match because I can see City coming out and dominating en route to victory but the winning margin depends on their finishing and robust strength of Olympiacos’ defence which is questionable at times.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Olympiacos

Result: Manchester City 3-0 Olympiacos
